Thank you for your interest in our study! Before we go any further, I want to take a second and describe a few details about the study.
Overall, this study’s purpose is to examine how decisions under stress might relate to mental health.
In order to be eligible, you must be 18-65 years old and fluent in English.
There are three parts of the study (see below for more details):
1) SCREENING ASSESSMENT (duration: 3-10 minutes; pay: $25 amazon gift card lottery)
2) BASELINE ASSESSMENT (duration: 60-75 minutes; pay: $15 amazon gift card + $50 lottery entry if eligible)
3) FOLLOW-UP STUDY (duration: 10 minutes; pay: $5 amazon gift card if eligible)

1) SCREENING ASSESSMENT (10 minutes; $25 amazon gift card lottery)
First, you will complete a Screening Assessment (3-10 minutes) to see if you qualify for the full study. We will ask you about thoughts, emotions, behaviors, including mental health history, and your demographics. Not everyone will qualify for the full study; HOWEVER, each person completing the screening assessment will be entered into a lottery to win $25 amazon gift card (1/100 odds of winning).
2) BASELINE ASSESSMENT (60-75 minutes; $15 amazon gift card + $50 lottery entry if eligible)
Second, based on your answers in the Screening Assessment, you may qualify for the Baseline Assessment, where we will ask more questions and have you complete two computer tasks. One of these computer tasks includes an annoying noise and images depicting suicidal behavior, which may be temporarily distressing. If you qualify for the Baseline Assessment you will be automatically routed to it. Completing the baseline assessment pays $15 + entry into $50 lottery if eligible (see below).
3) FOLLOW-UP STUDY (10 minutes; $5 amazon gift card)
Lastly, you may qualify for the 3-month follow-up study, where you will complete questionnaires about recent thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. The follow-up study occurs 3 months after Baseline Assessment.
Baseline Assessment lottery eligibility:
If you (a) pass all attention checks while completing the questionnaires AND (b) you pass all headphone/attention checks while completing the behavioral tasks, then you will be entered into a lottery to win $50 (1/100 odds)
